She doesn't get a lot of enemy attention if she doesn't make the killing shot on a big ship. Sola lags in the back because she's busy sniping, taking out Support ryders when they appear or poking holes in capital ships. Every turn I move the freighter forward 2 hexes, and my combat line tends to string out behind it.

The first turn I hit Full Forward and kinetic the two closest cruisers, take out the two bombers, and then I might have enough attacks left over to cap a mook. Here's an example of my typical starting position (it varies a little each time, but not a lot): I've completed that mission three times now on that difficulty. Yes, I am talking about the freighter escort mission, and yes I was playing Captain difficulty. Show us how this isn't a game of "Gotcha, you need this specific combination of upgrades to survive." Show us how savescumming isn't necessary to win this fight.

Now before anyone snarkily tells me to lower the difficulty to Ensign or lower, I invite the developers to post a youtube vid demonstrating how the escort mission is survivable on Captain with only 30,000-some credits worth of gear and upgrades. How are we supposed to get any money for upgrades when some of these side missions are basically impossible to complete? Are these missions even meant to be completed on captain difficulty, or are they strictly new-game+ material? I don't appreciate being thrown into level 50 content when my characters barely qualify as level 30, to make an analogy. The escort mission? That's something else. That's the classic optional uber-scenario you're not supposed to win on a first playthrough. The mission I had to retreat from was one thing. I appreciate a challenge, but this is frankly insulting. I have been playing strategy games for 25 years, and for the life of me I cannot figure how it is remotely possible to get through some of these missions with the meger resources available to players. Fighting in full savescumming mode (not the mark of a balanced game) didn't help with any of these strategies. (You're facing about 30 eneny units by turn 4.) And fighting offensively just gets the Sunrider blown up by attracting all the aggro from whoever is left. FOUR! Endless missile spam and spawning riders of all stripes makes any hope of victory impossible fighting defensively. The third time I spread my forces out trying to seperate the enemy and draw their attention away from the freighter and Sunrider. The second time I put everyone at the top of the map and played defensively. The first time I went full offensive in the center of the map, using Full Forward and Vanguard at will. Seriously, the escort mission is WAY too hard!! (Captain difficulty) I stayed up the whole friggen night trying to get through the mission, completely restarting it three times using different tactics - all to no avail.
